Objectives of Theme III The partner areas of North Kent and Provincia di Genova focus on the theme "Projects improving the socio-economic situation in deprived neighbourhoods." This theme deals with the broad range of projects and initiatives implemented in the context of neighbourhood management policies that aim at improving the social and economic context in deprived neighbourhoods. Such pro-active measures can cover new educational offers, the improvement of leisure and childcare facilities, job re-insertion or gender mainstreaming activities, the organisation of educational, cultural, sports and leisure activities, the support to local businesses and the local/ethnic economy or the setting up of local alliances for economy and employment. The operational objective is to review concrete projects or initiatives that improve the socio-economic situation in deprived urban neighbourhoods and to practically transfer (and apply) successful elements from one partner area to other POSEIDON partner areas. - Mutual co-operation shall allow to significantly widening mutual knowledge on the wide range of practical projects and initiatives improving the socio-economic situation in deprived neighbourhoods. Based on the exchange of experience, mutual co-operation will identify transferable elements of successful projects/initiatives realised in POSEIDON partner areas or elsewhere outside the project partnership and lead to a sharing of technical know-how regarding the design and implementation process of such activities.
- Mutual co-operation shall also allow to practically transfer elements of best practice, especially through realising small-scale local pilot activities with an innovatory nature that help to improve the socio-economic situation in deprived neighbourhoods.
In a medium-term perspective, this will help to widen the scope of area-specific neighbourhood management policies and offer the opportunity to introduce innovative elements in practical field work. << back |
